EVERY GREAT COMPANY MUST EVOLVE TO STAY GREAT. This has been our mantra at KC Evolve long before any of us ever heard of COVID-19. But it resonates with us and for our clients, now more than ever before.

This pandemic sucks. A lot. There is just really no other way to describe it. Maybe you are balancing work, homeschool, a move, a layoff, an aging parent or all of the above. Regardless of what you’re going through, this pandemic just sucks and unfortunately, it’s not all going away soon.

In a recent survey conducted by McKinsey.com of more than 200 organizations across industries, more than 90 percent of executives said they expect the fallout from COVID-19 to fundamentally change the way they do business over the next five years. 90%! This thing will not simply pass. As a people, a business, a society, we must find a way to adapt.

Here are 3 simple recommendations to focus on as you look at Q4 of 2020 and beyond:

1 - TRUST NEEDS TO BE PRIORITIZED

Lately, everyone feels as though they have been stabbed in the back. Between COVID, politics and racism, people have a deeper desire than ever to know they can trust the brands they love. Show them! Promote your values, be transparent and be true to your brand. People will quickly see through the bullshit but gravitate to the trust.

2 - DIGITAL WILL CONTINUE TO THRIVE

According to Digital Commerce 360, online sales increased 55% to $66.3 billion in July 2020 compared with July 2019. Service driven businesses need to pay attention to these trends as well. The necessity of doing business and marketing online is going to increase the need for more creativity and digital experiences.

3 - SOCIAL MEDIA IS NO LONGER OPTIONAL

Social media should be a key tool for building your brand. It has literally become digital currency. Customers are leaning on social media to educate them on everything from sales to styles to situations. You don’t have to TIKTOK but there should be a significant line in your budget for social media efforts moving forward.

At the core of most companies’ business strategy sits marketing. And how a company responds to a crisis, both internally and externally, will be their key to survival. Much of that survival will depend on your marketing partners or team to adapt to the challenges that this disruption has brought to the business world.

So, in the words of my favorite Peloton instructor, Cody Rigsby, it’s time to “grab a towel and get your life together.” It is time to shift your strategy and start an evolution.
